This is the second (of five) Commemorative Ukuleles from Alvarez Guitar company, the GDU-26C Concert Ukulele. With striking, iconic artwork and nice attention-to-detail. They make commemorative Guitars as well, also bearing the iconic artwork of GD lore.
I originally bought these for the novelty factor alone, but the actual “play-ability” of these Grateful Dead ukes surprised the heck out of me. I’ll chalk up the excellent string action to the fact they are made by a Guitar company, Alvarez. Because they are Concert size, they make great travel ukes as well.
They call this the “Remix” Edition Ukulele. It features a collage of Dancing Bears, Dancing Skeletons, and the turtles from the Terrapin Station album cover, with Owsley Stanley’s iconic Steal Your Face Logo right up front.
